Service Highlights

Consolidation at 40+ Asian origins

CRSA Global Logistics manages shipments from 18 Asian countries and 40 ports throughout Asia through its extensive network.  The CRSA program allows member companies to purchase the quantities they need without worrying about filling containers. By pooling less-than-container (LCL) shipments from multiple CRSA Member companies into full container loads, CRSA Members can ship LCL loads at volume adjusted full container load (FCL) rates and realize important savings.

Ocean transportation

The CRSA’s combined ocean volumes and long-standing presence in the Canadian ocean freight market allows it to procure very advantageous ocean freight rates. By contracting with multiple carriers across the various ocean carrier alliances, CRSA Members are ensured consistent are reliable service out of all origin ports.

Vendor management

Managing vendor relationships and compliance across hundreds of shippers and factories throughout Asia is a key component of the CRSA program. Vendor coordination includes working with overseas buying offices, monitoring vendor compliance and training and ensuring timely and accurate documentation. CRSA origin offices work with CRSA Member companies one on one to ensure that vendor management processes match their individual needs.

Deconsolidation

CRSA shipments enter Canada via Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Halifax. CRSA Members that prefer receiving ocean containers directly at their doors can elect that service, but many Members prefer the cost and operational advantages offered by our transloading programs.  CRSA’s bonded crossdocks in Vancouver and Halifax deconsolidate ocean containers and reconsolidate shipments into inland units, either truck or rail intermodal, for delivery to retailers’ individual distribution centers. Product from multiple origins can be combined into single domestic deliveries which eases final destination receiving operations.

DC Bypass

In addition, the CRSA domestic network allows Members to use DC bypass services and have freight destined for Western locations to be sorted and split off in Vancouver and then shipped LTL or courier directly to final store or DC locations, avoiding shipments to Eastern Canada and back again. This drives material reductions in both shipping times and transportation costs.

Costs

Becoming a member of the CRSA is simple and affordable.  There are no up-front entrance costs.  CRSA Members pay only transactional per container (FCL) or per CBM (LCL) management fees.  As a result, the fees you pay are solely based on your company’s actual volumes with no minimum annual fees.  In addition, CRSA’s unique portfolio of profit-sharing programs and other rebate mechanisms make the low fees even lower.

Management

The CRSA is run by its member companies.  Representatives from each member company meet several times a year to define the strategic aspects of the program, review program performance and select ocean carriers as contracts expire.

Day-to-day operations are managed by CRSA Global Logistics Inc.   CRSA Global Logistics Inc has offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Shanghai and Hong Kong and a dedicated team of professionals with long tenure in the international supply chain sector.
